Hearth Cooking Demonstration

Education volunteer and reenactor Edward Dube will be setup at the John Ward House (1710) to teach you about 17th century foodways while demonstrating hearth cooking techniques. The smell of woodfire and bubbling porridge, not to mention the ambiance of a home built in the first years of the 1700s, will transport you back to the early days of colonial life in Haverhill. The program is being presented in conjunction with North of Boston's 17th Century Saturdays, a celebration of Essex County's rich collection of homes, buildings, and artifacts from America's First Period (1625-1725) of European Settlement. For more information about 17th Century Saturday events around the region, please visit www.northofboston.org.
