UMass Lowell Innovation Hub Haverhill Cultural Speaker Series Modern Terrorism: Facts and Myths UMass Lowell Professor Dr. James Forest will unpack terrorism in today’s world – with a conversation and presentation about modern threats and how this global issue can impact us locally. Dr. Forest will examine a list of prominent myths about the contemporary threat of terrorism, and provide facts and evidence based on multiple sources of research by academics, government agencies, non-profit organizations and others. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments provided. About the Speaker Dr. James Forest is a Professor at the UMass Lowell's School of Criminology & Justice Studies, and a senior fellow at the U.S. Joint Special Operations University. He previously served on the faculty of the United States Military Academy (2001-2010), six of those years as Director of Terrorism Studies in the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point. He has published 20 books (see his Amazon Author's page: http://amzn.to/2zW8brk) and dozens of scholarly journal articles, and is co-editor of the international journal Perspectives on Terrorism.
