School Van Driver

We are searching for a reliable, caring person for a part-time, split-shift position transporting our students to and from school. Up to 20 hours per week during a typical school week; we pay on allocated holidays and snow days. Position begins in mid-August and is contracted through the end of the school year.

Qualified Applicants:

  • Have a valid Class-D driver’s license for the last three years with a satisfactory driving record

  • Are at least 21 years of age

  • Have professional driving experience

Duties and Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):

  • Pick up students from each of three bus stops every morning and reverse the route in the afternoon every weekday when School is in session.

  • Routine upkeep of School vehicles; including but not limited to refueling, basic operational checks, and maintaining interior cleanliness.

  • Communicate clearly with School administrators to facilitate timely pick-ups and drop-offs and to manage students in the vehicle.

  • Be sensitive to the needs of people, especially students and their parents, and show a pleasant disposition to all people in all situations.

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures listed in the School’s Employee Handbook.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to pass a CORI and fingerprint check

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and vision examination, which includes drug and alcohol testing

  • Fluency in English and be able to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Commitment to the philosophy and goals of the School

  • Patience and display willingness to work with students and their parents

  • Possess and utilize skills in the areas of leadership, crisis management, organization, and verbal communication

  • Excellent attendance and punctuality

Specific Training/Skills:

  • Knowledge of State and Federal driving rules and regulations

Working conditions for this position may include regularly being required to stand; walk; drive; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to quickly adjust vision.

All employees are subject to a fingerprint check and a background investigation, per state law.
